Hierarchical Pages Some websites are fairly linear in nature and don't require more than a simple navigation bar. Other sites, like this one, have main headings and sub-headings with individual pages below that. There are different ways of accomplishing this, including drop-down menus, but again, clarity in the navigation system is very important. While the main navigation system is the principal method of moving around the site, hierarchical pages may also contain hyperlinks that link directly to some other page not currently displayed on the navigation bar. An example of this can be seen by clicking on the word "hyperlinks" in the last sentence, which will take you directly to the Basic Design Elements section and the hyperlinks page there. |
