Site Elements: Overview Before you can create a website, you have to have an idea about what your business entails and how you want to present it. This sounds obvious, but it's actually fairly complex and sometimes difficult to explain to someone, especially if you've never had a website before. Some basic elements of most websites are a home page, the first thing that people see; an "about us" page to let potential customers know what you do; a contact page so customers know how to order your products or services; and, of course, at least one and often many pages describing what it is you provide. When you've decided what you want to include on your website, you then need to decide the proper order so the user can easily navigate around the site. If you're selling merchandise, you may need to include a shopping cart symbol like the one used by PayPal. For more information about each of these items, click on one of the links at left. |
